Occupational therapists help patients to develop, recover and improve skills needed for daily living. In the hospital setting, occupational therapists work as part of a healthcare team to help patients with disabilities and chronic conditions as well as those who are recovering from surgery, injury, stroke, etc. The occupational therapist will assess a patient’s abilities and needs to develop a treatment plan which will help to improve the patient’s everyday life skills.
