ABOUT NEW DAY
New Day Senior Care is the newest addition to Community Hospital in Tallassee, Alabama. This short-term care program is housed in a 10-bed unit and is aimed at maximizing the level of functioning in Seniors. Senior adults may have psychological, emotional and physical needs, which are unique to their specific age group. All therapies and treatments at New Day are tailored to meet the needs of Seniors.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
To be eligible for admission, individuals must be age 55 or older, have a primary psychiatric diagnosis, be medically stable and exhibit at least one of the following symptoms:
 Significant depression, anxiety, worry or agitation
Hearing or seeing things that are not present
Significant change of appetite or loss of energy and fatigue
Sudden onset of inability to deal with stressful situations
Excessive feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness or guilt
Recurrent thoughts of suicide or death
Assaultive or combative behaviors
Recent onset of false beliefs
Acute deterioration of the patient's coping skills that create a risk for the patient or others
REFERRAL
Referrals are accepted from a variety of sources such as physicians, hospitals, mental health professionals, community organizations, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, family members and concerned individuals. Call 334-283-3859 to schedule a free assessment.
